Quick answer

Contact the provider before moving day. Confirm who handles disconnection, transport and reinstallation, what the move costs, and whether the new address is covered. Check the new kitchen before booking, arrange drinking water for the gap, and follow the exact model’s restart instructions after installation.

Contact the provider once the move is reasonably firm

Have the account number, purifier model, old and new addresses, intended moving date and key-handover deadline ready. Ask whether the provider handles the entire move or only the two installation visits. A relocation booking does not necessarily include transport between homes.

Do not assume the household movers will disconnect plumbing or that a regular service visit can be converted into a relocation appointment. Confirm each task and the person responsible for it.

Some providers offer a dedicated relocation service: CUCKOO’s official online store, for example, describes reinstallation when customers move home. The details still need confirmation for your product and address. Book as early as practical, then reconfirm once access dates are settled.

Check the account and get the full quotation

If the purifier is rented or tied to a service plan, ask how the address change affects the agreement. Confirm coverage at the new postcode and whether the account holder must submit the request. A change of address and a transfer to another person are different requests.

Ask for the total relocation quotation, including any separate disconnection, transport, reinstallation, replacement-parts or additional-visit charges. Get the cancellation or rescheduling terms too, especially if the new home is still being renovated.

Do not assume monthly payments pause while the purifier is disconnected. Ask the provider to confirm what happens during a storage gap or delayed installation. The signed agreement and written reply matter more than a general promotion or another customer’s experience.

Coway’s published checkout terms, for example, place conditions on relocation and service coverage. This is a reason to confirm the destination with your own provider, not a fee or entitlement that applies to every household. For the broader ownership decision, see renting versus buying a water purifier.

Check the new kitchen before confirming the visit

Send clear photographs of the proposed location, the water connection and the space below the sink. Include the counter dimensions and nearby power supply where the model needs electricity. Ask the installer to identify anything that needs changing before arrival.

The layout that worked in the old home may not transfer directly. The new sink fittings, available space or drainage arrangement may differ. Let the installer assess compatibility rather than asking the movers to improvise a connection.

For a rented home, obtain permission for any proposed drilling or plumbing changes. In a condo, check contractor registration, working hours, lift booking and access requirements with management. Our installation checklist covers the site details in more depth.

Leave time to finish the old-home handover

Book disconnection while you still have access to the property, with enough time to resolve a problem before returning the keys. Agree who will close off or restore the old water connection and deal with any remaining mounting holes or fittings.

Take photographs before and after removal and keep the service record. Ask the technician to confirm the old connection has been left secure and checked for leaks. If the landlord expects a particular restoration, settle that scope before the appointment.

Keep drinking water available during the gap between disconnection and the new installation. Put that supply, cups and essential kitchen items somewhere accessible rather than in the back of the moving lorry.

Get the moving instructions for your exact model

Ask the provider who will drain and prepare the purifier, how it must be positioned during transport, and how to protect the fittings and accessories. Do not assume all countertop, tankless and hot-and-cold units can be packed the same way.

A model manual may specify a waiting period before reconnecting power or require particular installation parts. Coway’s Neo Plus CHP-264L manual includes relocation and installation instructions, illustrating why a generic “plug it in on arrival” rule is unsuitable. Use your own model’s instructions rather than copying another unit’s waiting time.

Tell the technician if the unit will be stored instead of reinstalled immediately. Ask for the preparation, storage and return-to-service procedure for that length of time. Record who is transporting it and the condition at collection; keep the accessories together so they do not disappear into unrelated boxes.

Check the provider’s rules before arranging a third party. Coway’s published warranty policy includes exclusions involving unauthorised relocation or removal. Other providers and agreements may differ, so clarify the arrangement before work starts.

Complete the restart before using the water

At the new address, ask the installer to complete the manufacturer’s required checks, filling, flushing and any cleaning or sanitising procedure. Confirm when it is ready for normal use and whether any functions must remain off until a particular step is finished.

Have the connections and drainage checked, then ask where the water shutoff is and what to do if a leak appears. Keep the completion record and report any problem promptly through the agreed service channel.

Update the service address, contact details and next maintenance appointment. Follow the established filter schedule unless the provider gives a documented reason to change it; moving day does not automatically reset every cartridge’s service life. The maintenance guide can help organise those records.

A message you can send when booking

“I am moving my water purifier, model [model], from [old address] to [new address] around [date]. My old-home key handover is [date]. Please confirm service coverage, available appointments, who handles disconnection and transport, the full charges, and preparation and restart instructions. Please also confirm how to update the account and whether the new kitchen needs any changes.”

Attach the kitchen photographs and save the reply with the booking reference. Once the dates are confirmed, share the division of work with the movers so the purifier is not packed before the technician has prepared it.

Frequently asked questions

Is water-purifier relocation always free?

No universal fee rule applies. Ask your provider for a written quotation covering the actual tasks, destination and agreement. Do not assume routine servicing or a rental payment includes every relocation cost.

Can I reconnect the purifier myself after moving?

Check the exact manual, agreement and provider requirements first. Where authorised installation is required, arrange it. A move may need new fittings, checks and a model-specific restart procedure, even if the unit looks ready to plug in.
