Buying Appliances Online: Check the Total Cost, Warranty and Delivery

Match the complete model code

Two listings can use almost identical photographs while selling different capacities, regional versions or bundles. Copy the full model code into your comparison, including suffixes. Check the supplied accessories, voltage and installation requirements against the manufacturer’s Malaysian information.

Do not use a star rating for a different variant as proof of the model you selected. Check which option is actually in the basket before applying vouchers. If a seller cannot identify the exact unit, pause the purchase rather than filling in the missing details yourself.

Confirm the seller and the service route

Distinguish a manufacturer warranty from a seller’s own repair promise. Ask who will accept a claim, whether your address is covered and what documents are needed. Verify authorised-dealer claims through the manufacturer’s own channels where available.

For example, LG Malaysia’s published terms connect its limited warranty to eligible products bought in Malaysia through authorised distribution. That is one brand’s policy, not a rule for every appliance. Read the terms for the actual brand, model and seller.

A long motor or compressor warranty may cover a component rather than every cost of a repair. Ask about labour, transport and exclusions instead of treating the largest number on the banner as whole-appliance coverage.

Compare the amount needed to make it usable

List appliance price, delivery, access surcharges, installation, required accessories and old-unit removal separately. Check whether each quoted amount applies to your address and building. A voucher may have a cap or conditions; compare the final payable total, not the headline discount.

Here is a fictional comparison: Offer A is RM1,899 plus RM80 delivery and RM120 installation, giving RM2,099. Offer B is RM2,049 including the same services. B costs RM50 less on those assumptions. The result changes if the scopes differ; these figures are not current offers.

Check the route, not only the final space

Measure the entrance, lift, corridor turns and appliance position. Ask whether packaging dimensions affect delivery and whether unpacking before entry is permitted. Confirm building booking times, deposits and lift protection requirements with management.

Get a written definition of delivery and installation. Carrying a box to the door may not include connecting water, fitting an approved stacking kit or removing transport fittings. Arrange a suitable installer where needed. Do not accept an improvised connection just because the delivery slot is ending.

Prepare for receiving and reporting problems

Save the listing, seller details, order confirmation and agreed services before the offer disappears. Read the process and deadlines for damage, incorrect goods and faults on the actual platform. Do not assume all purchases have the same return period.

When receiving the unit, document packaging and visible condition where safe and permitted. Check the model label against the order. Report discrepancies promptly through the official order channel and keep the reference; a private chat with the delivery driver may not open a claim.

Use the platform’s recognised payment route and independently verify unexpected requests to pay elsewhere. After installation, keep the invoice, serial number and warranty details together. That small folder is useful long after the sale banner has gone.
